Fed: Retail spending rises for 9th month in a row
Official figures show increased spending on leisure and in department stores has helpednudge retail spending higher for the ninth month in a row.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics says that, allowing for seasonal impacts, retailspending rose 0.3 per cent in February to $14.12 billion.
Retail trade is now 7.1 per cent higher than it was a year ago.
Higher spending at department stores and at hotels, pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurantsoffset falls in household goods and food.
Spending on recreational goods was also higher while spending on clothes was flat.
