NSW: Man who murdered and cut up 2 lovers jailed for 13 years=2
Peters pleaded guilty to committing the murders while affected by a cocktail of "ice"
or crystallised amphetamine and methadone, claiming to be the victim of sexual and physicalabuse by both older men.
Expressing remorse for both killings, Peters said he had snapped when Mr Akai gambled$500 set aside for his beloved dog Rajah's vet bills.
Despite the very great callousness displayed by the dismemberment of the bodies, JusticeWood told the NSW Supreme Court the crimes did not fall into the worst category whichattracted a life sentence because of special circumstances.
These included the abuse he was subjected to by both lovers, his HIV and HepatitisC status, which reduced his life expectancy to between eight and 20 years and his attemptsat quitting drugs while in jail.
Fixing a maximum 21 years, Justice Wood ordered Peters to serve 13 years before hewas eligible for release.
